Labels: We <3 Records Review by: Andy Malcolm Here we have a pair of mathy post hardcore bands, on a Norwich based label. Coo! Someone in Norwich putting out records, good to see. Silent Front have a good groove and yelp and drive their way through a pretty cool track here. I would enjoy 20 minutes of this in a live arena. The bass snakes around and the rhythm is tight, throwing in some directional changes here and there without becoming too jagged and wanky. I think these guys have been around for a while, but it's the first time I've really heard them. Good jawb! Shield Your Eyes hog the b-side and whilst they may have connections with the dreadful Meet Me In St Louis, this is a bit more palatable. It's perhaps a bit too mathy for my tastes in places, but it does bounce around furiously with hollered vocals, just about finding a smidgeon of melody to hang on to. It's enjoyably frantic and like their flip side brethren, manages to steer clear of dubious territory. Both these bands have come up with an agreeable take on a style of music that I haven’t listened to in a while, I guess if you enjoy stuff like Off Minor then this seven inch could well be up your alley.
