I was a little disappointed with the Tyvek LP on Siltbreeze, it had a bunch of great songs on it but they deemed to split them up and spoil the flow with a bunch of un-necessary instrumentals. Thus I am inclined to believe the band may be better suited to the 7″ format at this point. This two song slab of blown out post punk is a total blast. “Blessed” roars along with angry bass buzzing waspishly, and dual vocals anxiously hopping from one guy to the other. It blitzes by in double quick time and it’s done before I can even finish writing about it. This is the kind of mucky punk that gets me excited. There is a melody in there somewhere but the music is so fretful that you don’t really get a chance to home in on it. Taking up the b-side is the immense “Summer Things”, which is a far more focused effort, yet it doesn’t suffer for that. Kind of reminiscent of Moss Icon shorn of emo trappings, it rumbles ominously, and the ultra basic recording does little to detract. The bass grooves enormously, and tangles with the forceful drumming to drive things onward.
This is great stuff, sure to appeal to anyone who gets their kicks from Eddy Current Supression Ring and Mission of Burma.
