Here’s a German “New York Bodybuilder Core” metal crossover band that’s been around since the 1990s. Manifestation are tight as hell and you can tell that these guys have played together for a long time. The songs follow a formula that’s no doubt the result of long years of hard work, and this CD reveals the perfection of that formula. The music is expertly produced with crystal clear sound, at places the otherwise metal core guitars sound like those of hey-day Iron Maiden. The drums are so perfectly spot on that they sound like a drum machine (on the first song in particular). The lyrics are fucking retarded. And seemingly angry because hardcore lyrics should be angry, but I never once got the idea what Manifestation is angry about. To me it seemed like just a bunch of empty slogans. Come on raise your voice! Against this fucking world! Respect yourself! This fucking world!!! Stand up! We stand up together! As one! You are the enemy! We will beat you down!
In other words everything that attracts me to hardcore””such as musical ineptitude, subversion and protest, danger and chaos, uncleanness and madness”is entirely removed here.
Robot core for a robot generation.
