Null Punkt Kelvin - Null Punkt Kelvin - 10

Labels: Lechuza
Review by: Oli Saunders

Null Punkt Kelvin hail from Germany and play a very interesting combination of post-punk and screamo – top marks for originality straight away. Fast paced riffs that go all over the place, reminding me of Party Of Helicopters a fair bit. Imagine this combined with dual vocals, sometimes spoken, sometimes sung, and sometimes screamed, crossing over one another and creating a sound that is structured but yet borders on messy – it’s beautiful.

The shift in vocal delivery from song to song really adds to the record too – it never gets samey because of the variance. Whilst numerous German post-punk bands of recent times have left me feeling a little flat, this has a lot going for it and is defintiely a keeper. You know when you play a new record and after it’s finished you just have to play it again? And again? This is one of those records.
