Right, here’s the score: this is pop rock along the same lines as Spitalfield’s “Better Than Knowing Where You Are’ and Augustana’s “All The Stars”¦’ (minus the pianos of course). They nail the notes, the tunes and the mood they’re aiming for well enough and I’m pretty confident that this record will, as is the trend, do exactly as well as those above mentioned albums have, particularly in the US. Ironically, this English band being jocked in the US will filter back to England through the internet and be a trigger for their getting huge in their own country. I’d bet my bottom dollar on it.
By the looks of things Island and Def Jam have already scooped contracts from this band so they’ll be cashing in off these guys in no times. Music videos on the way no doubt. This will be big. That said, no-one on this site will hear about that as no-one here really cares for this type of music. In the same vein, I can’t imagine anyone here being impressed by my insisting that this band will be big, because it’s not really a valid way of quantifying artistic worth. So, if you’re a C-Z boy and are into hardcore give this a miss. If you know what you like though and its pop rock in the Americanised spirit-of-dashboard-confessional archetype, then get into this band. A country mile better than Fight Fair for real.
