Some rather tasteful pop of the indie variety on offer here. Model Village calm the mood, the sound of a lazy Sunday afternoon spent with the feet up on the sofa and little intent to leave the bloody house. It’s probably raining anyway. You get a fantastically repetitious bass line, and it’s held together by vocals that remind me a bit of Elizabeth Elmore in places – no bad thing. They also have Ian Scanlon, of ye olde time C-Zine faves Econoline, along for the ride. Maybe that’s why it sounds the teeniest tiniest bit (if you strain your ears hard enough) like the Promise Ring. He’ll probably get kicked out of the band now I’ve said that. Anyway, nice work!
The Puncture Repair Kit prove that indeed, band name hell has filled up and now zombie band names are walking the earth. This is very quaint. Or is it twee? The music is folky with orchestral leanings and much joie de vivre. Again, it’s entirely pleasant, and exceptionally English. However there are bands that get reviewed on this website that could probably wipe them out with just one thump of the drumkit. Der PRK are emphatically wussy, and one assumes not at all worried about it. Fair play. Not really my thing, but in one 2 minute burst, perfectly acceptable.
