Warm Widow - Widower - CD (2010)

Labels: White Box
Review by: Thomas Strawbridge

Here’s a suggestion guys: don’t start your album with your longest, most boring song. Oh no wait, this is your style. The press sheet mentioned Drive Like Jehu, Husker Du, the Fall and Guided by Voices. Either it was an elaborate trick to get me to listen to this (which I would have done anyway), or they are simply notifying me that they have identified the worst points of all those bands, then hodged them together into a bit of a mess. And no, you can’t pin this on the lo-fi recording – I actually like that. Oh thank …something… the third track is better. Not enough though, the ideas are way too far apart over the nine songs. If you like noisy rock then maybe check these guys out next time round – there’s definitely potential here.
