Odd one, this. It’s a cool lil three-tracker, but to get the most out of it you have to pretty much forget that a band called the Wipers ever existed. No-one ideally wants to do this and the notion is an alien one to any self-respecting punker, but, trust me, it does help. A bit, anyway. So, let’s see: Bloody Gears play punk rock with husky vocals, stabbing minor-key melodies and a sense of drive that almost seems at odds with overriding sense of gloom they conjure. Lead track ‘End Of The Line’ is the best of the bunch while the other two are sturdy enough and a bit more energetic. Good, solid stuff and recommended if you like acts like the Estranged, the Observers or, umm, the Wipers.
