Emphemetry is one bloke from Derby who has a history of making music for short films. I won’t tell you his real name as he sounds much cooler as Emphemetry and I would rather not shatter your illusions. For the opening track “Twinklebox”, he has adapted the original music that he used for a short film of the same name and as the name suggests it is indeed quite twinkly. It is led by a music box and sounds like a song to theme the breaking of dawn. There is no beat to the track “” just  a bit of light piano in the background. My limited knowledge of this type of music leads me to recall “My Angel Rocks Back and Forth” by Four Tet as I listen to this one. It’s quite lovely. The second song is piano-led and also incorporates what sounds like a creaking door. It was inspired by Murakami’s novel “Hard-boiled Wonderland & The End Of The World”. I quite like a bit of Murakami myself although I haven’t read that book. I will add it to my list.  This one sounds like film music. The PR email also highlighted this as soundtrack music so I guess that is exactly the point. I do like the first track particularly though and quite like the cover art too.
