Crow Eater - Grave Wax - Tape (2011)

Labels: Bart
Review by: Alex Deller

Some pretty cool hardcore on this here tape. Fast, echoey and semi-spasmodic, the four tracks mulch together sounds that’re part-way between the chaotic early 90s of Heroin or Born Against and the chaotic now-time of something a bit more Youth Attackish. Winning points are the vocals (which are coarse, unkind and sneery), the queasy guitar elements and the stumbling, locked-in rhythms that give things an added air of blind-eyed menace. It’s not quite perfect yet, but if these are the band’s earliest efforts then I’d say this is at least a damn good start.
