Labels: Labor of Love – Side Two
Review by: Kjetil Holstad
Do not know a whole lot about this band, but somewhere in my apartment there is a demo tape from a few years back that I remember I enjoyed quite a lot at the time, but have vague memories that the demo was quite straightforward raw hardcore. Some Sick Joke is a hell of a lot more grittier, uglier and dirtier and honestly; this fucking rocks! In the time of the insane postage rates, this review is based on a download the label sent us so I am able to listen to the three songs in a row without any flipping. This works super well as the 7″ picks up momentum and speed for each song. All songs have a distinct SST feel to them and are so full of nerve and intensity no matter if it’s played slow and groovy like on the title track or at breathtaking speed like the last song Mission Creep. Download did not come with any lyrics but have a feeling they are not about things that are nice and working well in our society. This is good enough that I have to order a copy straight away to find out.
