Adorno - Year 2 - LP (2012)

Labels: Shove
Review by: Oli Saunders

I sure got into Adorno’s second phase as a band, documented on this record. A collection of their splits (one with Auxes still not released and now unlikely to be), comp songs, and 7”, if you close your eyes and ignore all that it’s basically the best emo LP that will come out this year; if you’ve not checked out much of their other stuff then this ties it all together for you.

There are three positive reviews of the band already on CZ so I feel no need to praise their music style further. As a record, this flows as well as it could; I notice slight disjointedness at times but it’s to be expected. Having heard all the songs before, it doesn’t impact me as much as the individual songs did when I first heard them, but at the same time it’s great being able to listen to all of them without getting up several times. Finally, the lyrics are laid out for the listener to read and there’s a note about them and where the members of the band are now. I was wondering where they had got too and it seems they are currently dotted around the world, exploring it. I, for one, hope that there is a third phase to the band because they’ve became one of my favourites in recent years.
