So I had a bit of a punk orgy last night, I literally made a big long list of punk bands which are touring next year in theory and went in hard. These guys stuck out instantly as they only had three songs on their Bandcamp, yet managed to fit more ideas successfully into that short space than most of the other bands I was flicking through.
Musically it’s kinda hard to describe, the backbone is straight up Wire style nervously ticking drums, yet the layers on top range of atonal and droning chords to big jangly, spring reverbed open chords. They remind me a bit of early 80s uk bands such as Swell Maps and Rudimentary Peni insomuch that they create a slightly odd/unsettling feel, yet draw you in with the little flickers of melody and tight punky rhythm.
This San Fran freekz are doing an lp apparently, I bet it’s banging.
