This one initially frightened me off with its RAWK title. This is a female fronted duo from Austin, Texas – guitar and drums. They collaborate with someone on here called BP Fallon who I have never heard of. By all accounts, he is some form of legend in the pop world and appears to have worked with plenty of pop megastars over the years including John Lennon and U2. In fact, the blurb from the label is nearly all about him rather than the band. Thanks to The Ghost Wolves he has finally reached the pinnacle of his career and made it onto Collective Zine. The 2 songs on here are definitely of the rock variety – dancey rhythms and a dirty guitar sound. BP Fallon contributes spoken word vocals to “Black Crow”. Both tracks have a kind of garagey, rocky, bluesy sound but I’m not that keen on the rocky lyrics – “I’ve got a rocket/It’s in my pocket/ I know you want it”. To get into the spirit of things I decided I would try my hand at such lyrics. Here is my attempt: “I’ve got a monster/In my holster/I know you need it/Come on and feel it”.
I can see it being used in a spoof film about a rock band. Or a musical.
