Quiet Steps - Dying Livers - LP (2012)

Labels: Tenzenmen
Review by: Oli Saunders

Quiet Steps continue to impress me and this new release takes the bones of their last effort, ‘Secular’, and moves things on a notch (in terms of both experimentation and quality). The vocals are murky as hell but this works wonders; they sound great and sort of bring a shoegaze feel to the music at times. I personally see Cars Get Crushed in their somewhere too. It is most definitely emo but it feels quite fresh and original. The band describe themselves as “3 people producing an evolution of altering post-whatever noise since 2005” which I think is very apt. I don’t know any other bands in Australia making music that excites me at the moment but Quiet Steps are fortunatelyr still flying the flag and this is another very solid effort from them.
