Whilst most genres of music quickly saturate, I think that bleak slowcore will never get there. Mars To Stay have a wonderfully original take on things, playing music that many people could not stomach simply for it being too sad and slow. Close your eyes and sit back while you listen to this to allow immersion to occur – straining to hear what the vocals are saying, I can only make it bits here and there, but it’s incredibly relaxing. Somehow they’ve managed to slow things down a notch with these two songs. In fact, a simplified lo-fi version of Jesu comes to mind on this record more than any other band comparison that I can think of. Touring Europe with Plaids at the moment, I highly recommend this.
