Here is one of my favourite 7inches of the year. Wade follow their lone track on the split with Healing Powers with five new songs here. It is a departure of sorts (if you can call it a departure after previously releasing just one song) with less of a lo-fi sound going on and the murkiness is gone. However, what you get is five absolute corkers of punked-up emo that’ll barely keep you for ten minutes. The vocals are bang on while chuggy riffs and downbeat lyrics dominate proceedings. Those lyrics are full of heart and resilience despite their self-deprecating nature and I haven’t found much of a better coupling all year than “Stoker” and “Valerian” which are two of my most played songs in 2013. It’s all a bit of a teaser for me as I’m left flipping the record over and wanting more. Great stuff.
