Labels: Glass Of Spit Recordings – Lighthouse Keeper Records
Review by: Ted Reynolds
I was once in a band where one of the members got people to spit in his shoe, and then he drank it. It was fucking disgusting, thank you Glass of Spit records for reminding me of that.
We have some instrumental post rock here – more on the ‘rocky’ side of things, a bit more riffy than Mono or something.
It is very well played, and the artwork is lovely, an LP cover would look really great, but if I’m being honest I don’t really like it that much. I have never been much of a fan of this sort of music, despite being in a similar band for a long time. It’s really fun to play but not so great to listen to, well for me anyway. That’s not to say that you wouldn’t flip your wig listening to this, and if you love Explosions in the Sky, and maybe even Pelican in the riffier bits then I’m sure you would enjoy this.
I can’t help feel the whole thing lacks a bit of a menace, it could do with some more venom, it’s left it sounding a bit safe, dare I say (and no doubt the band would want me skinned for saying this) a bit like an instrumental Biffy Clyro, sorry.
It wasn’t really for me i’m afraid.
