Noise squall meets crystalline drones within Pan Gu’s ‘Primeval Man Born Of The Cosmic Egg’, a six-track offering which slinks craftily between moments of calm and deep disquiet. Lasse Marhaug and Leslie Low are the duo behind the noise, breathing life into their vision with crackles, feedback, looped instrumentation and many arcane little boxes which, when rattled, prodded or otherwise tinkered with, make noises such as ‘pshhhh’, ‘fnUNK‘ and ‘squoosh’. The results are generally pleasing but at times a little directionless, as though some final cog, part or movement were missing which would, were it present, imbue the whole with greater, deeper meaning.
