Warm Widow play fuzzy noise rock, weaving distortion into a neat framework held together by undecipherable but interesting vocals; not as weird or screechy as US Maple but on the edge of that ballpark. I get the Guided By Voices reference I read elsewhere but it comes and goes and for the most part is gone. I like the first track but half an hour of constant monotonous guitar fuzz is too much for my ears. Having said that, there is sufficient variety on display; track 6 mixes things up with a much quieter and melancholy number which I can tap into. Overall some neat ideas going on inside but they don’t stand out enough to make me really care.
