Labels: Thrill Jockey
Review by: Captain Fidanza
This is yet another reason why releases from Thrill Jockey always bring about a smile. I’ve probably said before that years ago, when I first heard Tortoise, Mouse on Mars and Trans Am, I always associated this label with electronica or bizarre noise, so the fact they also release things like this and some of the other acoustic madness I’ve reviewed on this website, is a beautiful, wonderful thing.
Quite in keeping with the fact that it sounds as though it was recorded on basic equipment in the musician’s kitchen, this album contains some outstanding lo-fi songs at times reminiscent of the Superwolf album Bonnie Billy made with Matt Sweeney a few years ago.
Ever-inventive excellence.
