Strange stuff from Finland, this. Five tracks of odd, glooping drum-bass-voice malarkey that touches base with NoMeansNo, DEAD and the Melvins but is ultimately doing its own rather wayward thing. The tracks are arch, rhythmic and intent on buffeting you roughly about, but it’s the weird, spaced-out vocals that really set Torso apart. They’re a bit Jello, a bit Buzzo and a lot like solvent fumes may have played a part, ultimately adding a yelping, yammering element to a sound that was already several sandwiches short of a picnic. I rather like it and would welcome hearing some more.
