This is some nice indie pop from the Isle of Man that is rife with jangly guitars and gentle melodies. The band seem to have something of an obsession with zebras with all their output on bandcamp having zebra references in the titles. Within the first two tracks, it switches from the more gentle indie of the opener, “Yggdrasil”, to “At Last” which is moody and slow and builds to a fuzzier second half – you can feel a shoegaze influence on this one and it’s my pick of the songs on here. That word “Ygdrassil” by the way – I had to look it up and it’s some kind of immense tree from Norse mythology. The Gods used to go and worship it everyday and its branches reach up to heaven or something. I’m less keen on “Blue Fluff” which is a little too folky for my own personal tastes. The slowest track, “Letting Go” is sadder and more introspective and follows on from a rockier instrumental. They then close things by bringing the rock on “Boardwalk” which has a 90s shoegaze feel again. There’s a bit of variation on here but this is a pleasant listen overall. It’s “Letting Go” and the opening two tracks that I come back to in the main.
