Labels: Dead Broke Rekerds – Money Fire Records

I made the mistake of overlooking this record when it came out in November which was a little silly as Fellow Project’s “Stable Life” LP a few years back was a total cracker.
This EP has six songs that stand up well against that LP. In terms of their sound here, they haven’t moved too far from previously which is good news for me. I’ve always been a fan of the contrast and interplay between the vocals of Tia and Joe and they’re at the forefront of each song on here. The rhythm section is worthy of a shout here too as when they really get going it’s a powerhouse – see the end of “Hidebound” for starters. There is a track on here called “Tugboat” which has the bleak feel of a murder ballad – it’s slower and features desolate lyrics (“it slowly burns then it festers”). The last song, “Get Stormy”,would be a cracking song to end a set with even when put up against their best tracks. That last minute of the song with that riff makes this one an absolute monster.
Moral of the story is that I should be a bit quicker on the uptake when bands like Fellow Project release new material.
