Sturdy dose of Southern Lordcore from these here Canucks. If you’ve somehow blanked out the last three or four years I’ll explain what this means: sharpened Converge tendencies wedded to mucky crust, hefty metallic thumps and the occasional 00s screamo incursion. Despite their admirable rancour, though, it remains middle-tier rather than exemplary. The reasons for this are vague and sound rubbish when I try to explain them, but they ultimately revolve around issues of bite, delivery and the fact that there’s no definitive moment which really grips you by the throat. Still solid, though, and if they come across even half as angry live as they sound on this EP then I’m sure they could be quite a formidable presence.
