Labels: Imminent Destruction
Review by: Alex Deller
A violent dose of chaotic, metallic motör-metal is what we’ve got here. So chaotic, in fact, that it’s tough to tell whether the mess of it all is down to ebullient design or the simple inability to hold a song together. The kind of day I’ve had, how bad my head hurts and how much sleep I need all have a part to play in how generous I feel towards it, but whichever way you cut it the right word for how ‘High Speed Savage’ is relentless. Utterly, stupidly, bloody-mindedly relentless. The riffs are thick and somehow clumped up, sounding like one pair of wet jeans too many in the tumble dryer. The vocals are an incessant grumble, the bass wiggles nimbly and I don’t think there’s a single point at which the guitar solos stop. It is, frankly, all over the shop and sounds kinda like ‘Equalizing Distort’ being played by angry mutants whose hands have been replaced with hammers. Now, if it’s all the same to you, I’m going to have a little lie down. Phew!
