Ramshackle pop punk with big, ringing chords and nerdy vocals. I am not usually much of a one for this stuff, but when I do go in for it I prefer things to be on the sloppy side so this is all ok by me. Musically it reminds me of Onion Flavored Rings, J Church and bands like that, though there’s something in there (maybe the melodies or the way the open notes chime?) that also recalls the likes of Mid Carson July and the Warren Commission. Lyrics focus on all things fanzinely, which doesn’t exactly strike a deep, resonant note with me personally but makes sense when you know the backstory: the band was made up of folks from the UK, US and France and formed around a pilgrimage to the Portland Zine Symposium. The mission ultimately resulted in this record and a UK tour, which is kinda neat and also pretty impressive given how snappy the tunes are for such a temporary, fleeting project.
