This here is a bit of a mixed bag from Second Date who come from Charlottesville and this three-track debut is very much a band finding their feet with different genres being tapped into along the way. There’s a wah-wah guitar on the first track that puts me right off – not the keenest on that sound but I do like the vocals here and how they’re a little low in the mix and don’t dominate. “Bored” is up next and moves more to the shoegaze side of things. Nice track although the wah-wah rears its head again towards the end. The final track, “Ghost”, is a lovely slice of melancholy and drifty dream pop. I hope they explore this part of their sound as this track in particular shows plenty of promise.
