Grady Philip Drugg - s/t - Tape (2016)

Labels: Near Mint
Review by: MH

This is quite nice. Kind of lo-fi stuff from a Texan guy who was living in Missouri at the time of recording and writing these songs, and recorded this after his girlfriend bought him a 4 track cassette recorder. A lovely story if ever I’ve heard one. Soundwise it’s all quite laidback and beach-y. Sounds like he likes Real Estate and probably older stuff like The Beach Boys too. The opening instrumental is absolutely lovely for starters while the vocals throughout the tape are light and airy – a smooth fit with the music. It’s all pretty relaxing and he can write a nice pop song like “Who Can Really Say”. Nice Sunday and late night listening for me this week.
