Ferocious Dog play Irish punk and they do it well. It’s fast, it’s catchy, it’s political. The lyrics are well put, saying nothing that’s not been said before but putting it across through effective stories of struggles that hit home in a Loachian manner. It’s not OTT either – I personally don’t tire of the 100 mph violin, even when it coincides with somewhat dark lyrics about a massacre of miners. To be fair there is much optimism in other songs, including the call for racial harmony. A well put together album.
