This tape looks lovely and is the first in what will become a series on Hybrid Vigour. Clelia Ciardulli creates 42 minutes of ambient noise here. It treads a line between gentle and jarring, keeping a sort of beat whilst wandering and exploring with other sounds. It has a song sample that I recognise from Donnie Darko, when Frank tells Donnie to burn Jim Cunningham’s house down. I like this interplay between the noise and what is essentially an opera song. Later on it becomes much softer on the ears and droney – it’s quite beautiful. Everytime I listen to noise music I appreciate it a little bit more and this tape seems to me to be as good as it gets.
