Detuned death-murk that’s primitive and primal but nevertheless possessed of a sly animal cunning. The six songs surge and pull, forming a muddy, sludgy torrent that seems at first glance nothing but greys and browns but, upon closer analysis, proves to be flecked with unknown galactic particles. Portal might be a point of reference if they were more feral, more direct and less concerned with bending time itself into impossible new shapes. As it stands, bands like Mitochondrion and Antediluvian will have to serve as better points of reference – acts that might stare wild-eyed and unafraid into the cosmic void but still, for the time being at least, remain part of this pathetic human realm.
