Wild and strangely terrifying hardcore from Mexico City. While Ojo Por Ojo fit in well with all the bands that came in the wake of the Toxic State explosion, there’s a definite stink of apartness about them. True, the creepy basslines, scrabbling guitars and end-of-tether vocals seem to fit the Rudimentary Peni-obsessed template, but the rough musicality, leery rhythms and unsettling metallic undercurrents set them at a definite remove from most of their peers. The bandcamp blurb mentions Parabellum which is an odd reference for a punk band but kinda fits, though I reckon the likes of CCM, Gas Chamber or a muckier, murkier Raped Teenagers would also suit by way of rough comparison.
