Labels: Dowd – Joyful Noise Recordings
Review by: Alex Deller
Nice slice of quietly glum indie here, which should strike a pleasant chord if your tastes run toward the likes of Pinback (whose Rob Crow appears here), Three Mile Pilot and The American Analog Set. It’s one of those releases that drifts by quite unassumingly, but the more you listen the more you realise there is to digest amid the squelchy synths, skittering drums and bleary vocals. As can often be the case with this kind of thing it’s tricky to pick a standout, instead working best as something to keep on repeat while the rain pours endlessly down outside and you drink cup after cup of strong black coffee.
