Seablite - High Rise Mannequins - 10

Labels: Emotional Response – Meritorio Records
Review by: MH

Seablite return with more of their dream pop with four new tracks following up last year’s “Grass Stains & Novocaine” LP. In keeping with that record, they are channelling 90s shoegaze bands here (Lush in particular) and have the combination of jangling and louder fuzz down to a tee (NOTE: I just listened to this again on Spotify and after the EP finished it played their cover version of “French Disko” by Stereolab which also gives you an idea as to their influences). There’s some nice variation across the four tracks with the slower, melancholy “Skipping Stones” while the more driven and darker “Pretend”, which closes this, is something of a gem.
