Thought that Extortion had stepped into the great, yawning void that embraces us all, but, narp, here they are, back with a bunch more hate. ‘Seething’ features 15 tracks in something like ten minutes, and it’s all as fast and vitriolic as ever. Back in the ‘Sick’ and ‘Degenerate’ days I’d routinely compare them to No Comment, but they feel somewhat chunked up: brawnier around the neck and shoulders with a sound that, if not full-Clevo, lurks menacingly around territory once marked by Haymarker and Left For Dead. Amid the blasts you get some cool touches – the big, bendy riff that features in ‘Pedant’, the lunge ‘n’ thump of ‘Exhaust’ – that serve to remind you that these brutes really, really know what they’re doing.
