If their last EP suggested a Left For Dead-ish thickening round the neck and shoulders, this latest haemorrhage from Extortion sees them whippet-lean and starved to the point of madness. Here the band dive headfirst into their No Comment / DRI / Siege influences, with everything mercilessly fast, knifeblade keen and utterly, utterly mad. There’s also a deadly precision to things, though, that can’t help but bring some of thrash metal’s more intense practitioners to mind thanks to a crisp, honed edge that lends a sense of military discipline to the violence. Despite there being 15 tracks it’s all over in the time it takes to crash a car through a jewellery store window: a reckless, adrenalised experience that seems spur-of-the-moment but has actually been timed down to the last breathless second.
