Brutal. Not sure I can make too many trite comparisons here, but to these ravaged ears Pleasant Valley Children sure sound birthed of that same rough timeframe that gave us Infest, Rorschach and Born Against. Cruel, sneering vocals and bludgeoning musicianship lend this forty-song discography a menacing air that’s ugly as all fuck and sure to batter down your resolve no matter how strong you figure yourself to be. Between the fast blasts and merciless knuckledraggers you’ll be well and truly pummelled by this gnarled fragment of UK hardcore history, whose reappearance isn’t so much the warm embrace of an old friend as a vicious beating by a gang of cuts who’ve held a small-minded grudge for ten years and only just had the chance to beat you to the floor and drop a breezeblock on your pelvis.
