Grade - Under The Radar - LP (1999)

Labels: Victory
Review by: Ian Cavell

If I tell you that this LP has been kicking around for a few months, and you then skipped to the end of the review and saw a less than staggering numerical rating, would you be surprised? Probably not… But then I’m sure everyone has this album by now because the kids fucking love Grade, I mean, shit, they’re the new Screamo according to a certain popular newsprint magazine. They gotta be getting through to someone.

Well not me. The last record stank and from the sounds of it, it looks like this one has been for a couple of rolls in the compost heap too. However, I will give Grade some credit – they are at least writing some catchy melodic hardcore these days. ‘Seamless’ could be a previously unreleased Samiam gem if they hadn’t let some loon try and cough up his intestines all over it. I’ll say it again, these vocals don’t fit this style of music. So, no I don’t really like Grade, I don’t really like this LP. Kids why not throw your money at a fucking good band?
