Did you see that? Yesterday Russ reviewed a Samiam record. He’s being reprimanded. Why? Because everyone knows that Collective only actually reviews stuff by bands that don’t actually exist. It’s true, we make all this up. You can’t believe you fell for it can you? Never mind, you’re here now, here’s another review of a made up band.
I didn’t dig this the first time I played it. I thought, “goddamn, not another shrieky screamy emo band that sounds like Saetia”. But on further listening, I’ve discovered that this 7″ just plain smokes. Yeah yeah, it is shrieky screamy emo, but it never pauses for breathe, and they are playing some hurtling hectic hardcore in the vein of current heroes like the Red Scare. Ok, I got that slightly wrong, there are occasional times when they do slow everything down, but not too much. And things always come back to the quickfire assualt sooner or later. Though in one song they do tend to chug metally a bit too much for my liking. Tsk, how naughty. Oh, I love the concept with the lyric insert too, but I’ll leave that for you to discover.
Basically: fast screamy chaos. Oh, you know the score by now. If you like stuff on Witching Hour, Level Plane, Hand Held Heart, yes yes, you’ll like this record too. No problem.
