Hot Water Music - Alachua - 7

Labels: No Idea Records
Review by: Andy Malcolm

I was intrigued to see in a review the other day that Ian wrote his least favourite style of punk was the Ramones / 3 chord stuff. I wouldn’t dispute that too much, but do you feel it’s even worse than anarcho-crust eh Ian?! Anyway, another review…

Fuck off No Idea, just fuck off! Wait till you see the packaging for THIS one. The HWM logo (which, officially, is the best in the world) cut out from the cover, which is a very tasteful silver colour. Then you get the swirly grey vinyl. Woah woah.

This originally came out on Allied (they scratched out the Allied-74 on the vinyl master!), but the ‘Idea crew have re-released it “for the good of the scene”. Right. “Alachua” is another grand piece of HWM excellence, and it both chuggs and rocks and Fuels (I can say that now I’ve heard them) and the vocals are almost sung in places. Really! They do dual shouting at times too. Surprise. It’s backed with “Never Ender” which ups the pace a little, and again has melodic vocals plus hoarse shouting. This is really good. I can’t think what else to say.

I am just so looking forward to see this lot live in a couple of weeks. Oh yes.
