Humble Ary - s/t - 6

I really like what I have heard by Humble Ary, but this two tracker is my favourite thing they’ve done. Two bursts of passionate desperation, cramming as much emo as possible into 6″ of white vinyl. The first track is “Do It For Fun” which grooves it’s way back and forth with multiple vocalists bringing you the words. The guitars have a dischordant melodic sound, evoking bands like Moss Icon and crunchy mid 90’s stuff like Policy of 3. The other track, “What You Feel Means Nothing To Me” starts off with understated spoken vocals and distant yelling over brooding guitar that you can tell is just waiting for the right moment to explode. Again it brings a groove with the bass guitar setting the tone. The two vocalists work really well together here.

It all comes together to form a great sound – spirited DIY emo that reminds me of Moss Icon. For me, it doesn’t get much better than that.
