So what we have here is a three way split of cover versions. I’m sure you all know Kid 606 by now, well unfortunately his mix of what I think is Bubba Sparx lies more alongside his drum and bass work rather than the great cut up stuff like his remix of “Straight Outta Compton” which has got to be a classic in my books. Nothing too taxing to say the least! Next up is Ascdi who does a pretty straight up electronic cut up version of something like Brittany Spears. I’m sorry I’m really not up on my chart hits, I played this to someone and they recognised the songs and told me though I can’t remember what and who they are!!! Anyway back to Ascdi blah blah blah I’ve heard this thing done a thousand times before and it passes through one ear and out the other like a cotton bud in an Essex girl. Anyway flip it over and the fun starts as my gay friend always says. Side B provides us with the gem that is Printed Circuit. Claire is truly brilliant in making electronic music, if you’re into the more poppy side of electro I urge you to check her stuff out. Here she gives us “Can’t Get You Out of My Shed” which if you can’t guess is a Kylie cover! Think of bands like Soft Cell, The Human League, Gary Numan and you can definitely see their influence here. If Kylie had been in a Super Mario Brothers game she would have made her songs like this! Eighties Electronic Pop will rise again but it wont be the hipsters like Fischerspooner or The Faint leading the way.
