I seriously thought I owned at least one other record by Kill The Man Who Questions. I do not. I think I was thinking of someone else. Not to worry. They play angry, thrashing hardcore that sounds like a rabid blend of Struggle and Born Against, with a hint of thrash revivalism a la Tear It Up or whoever you care to mention that fits that particular cap. This means fast, harsh, punk rock spouting furious diatribes about stale scenes, broken dreams and bastard cops with enough changes of pace and scenery to keep it from being pure three chord thrash, but not enough to seem like any metal influences have crept in. Phew. Pretty good. Just close your eyes and picture early Ebullition records and lyric inserts printed with soy ink.
Del Cielo are a far lighter affair. They play drippy indie-pop with female vocals in the vein of Velocity Girl or Tsunami. Neither of those comparisons particularly thrill me, and the two songs on here do little to make me want to sing Del Cielo’s praises from the rooftops. Jangle jangle boo hoo hoo. Love songs and broken hearts can make for great music, but not when its this bland and ineffectual. Clear the stage and pass me something to mop up my own sick with on the way out please.
