Okay, good news and bad news. The bad news is that “pop-punk” bands are more common than people who wear those shit white trainers and puffa jackets these days. The good news is that Limp are the leaders of the pack, and everything they’ve done since they formed rocks all over the place.
Start at the beginning – “Guitarded” (sounds kinda like “retarded” doen’t it?) is instantly the most likeable album title I’ve ever heard.
The CD just gets better after that… If you’ve heard anything by Limp before, Guitarded follows suit very well. Considerably original and well written songs, catchy tunes that stick to you like jiz in the bath, and it’s really hard to understand the singer without the inlay card.
The only drawbacks to this album are that if you’ve been up on ‘pre-guitarded’ stuff, like sampler tracks and ep’s, you may have heard the strongest tunes of the album already. Also, as punk albums go, this one sounds a little too well produced (Ryan Greene is an apparent genius – perhaps too much). But listen to it – these are very forgivable offenses.
In short – get this album. Then, get their first album “Pop & Disorderly”. Then be a fan, and ride the bandwagon all the way to the emerald city.
