Ludicra - Another Great Love Song - LP (2004)

Labels: alternative tentacles
Review by: Chris Bress

Ugh! Ludicra may play ultra grim black metal but they are not from the frosty forests of Norway they are from the grim forests of, erm, California. You can tell from the record that they aren’t in some scene from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe however as they sound a lot more punk (American punk) which is why they can go from playing with Immortal to Dystopia with (I’m sure) ease. They have some pretty competent riffs that can conjure up ugly blood-spilt images. The vocals are sick too, especially when the pace is picked up, they just sound desperate and hungry. It’s quite refreshing to hear this as its not quite as morose as a lot of other metal stuff (even though it is pretty depressing) so it sounds fresh, well worth picking up a copy, but, get that Zolar X which Alternative Tentacles just released as well.
