A newie from Off Minor here, back in fine form with their by-now familiar brand of jazzy emo, kicking it with all the constituent parts that keep the kids purring “” smarty-pants guitarwork that alternates between dappled prettiness and stomp-boxed noisy parts, spot-on rhythm section and desperate vocals yawping out oblique lyrics. Everything is in its rightful place and as good as it should be, the only risk lying in that such consistent greatness might lead to folks taking their skills for granted.
My Disco are the second bunch of Antipodeans Off Minor have occupied a split with in recent times, sharing certain similarities but with a spacier Shotmaker/Fugazi vibe going on “” stark, spare and extremely groove-oriented, shifting neatly between a staccato pulse and a tightly wound judder. Nice enough while it lasts, but the song just stops “” and not in a timely, efficient manner either. The bastards just quit without warning and up sticks while you’re still waiting for the cliffhanger to be resolved, kind of like some silly fucker cutting the power five minutes before Peter Falk unravels the mystery. Tsk.
