Rumbleseat feature two of the guys from Hot Water Music (Chris and Chuck) and this 7″ is actually the third in a kind of series. Continuing the theme started by the previous two, the cover is a glorious sepia toned affair with a tasteful embossed logo. But for some reason the 7″ has been pressed on green vinyl, which if you ask me, just looks ugly compared to the swirly brown of the previous two 7″s. Now, I realise that rambling on about the colour of the vinyl might be considered a waste of time, and yes, the music is more important than the stupid colour of the record. But, if you’ve seen the other two 7″s, I’m sure you’ll appreciate just how wonderful they look. In this case green vinyl = ugly.

Musically, Rumbleseat are fantastic. They play beautiful acoustic songs which I have seen described as being “traditional”. The first track ‘Trestles’ is not quite as good as some of the others, but it does feature a harmonica which is always a plus point. ‘Restless’ is a much stronger effort; it really is like Hot Water Music playing stripped down, acoustic songs and if that isn’t enough to send you rushing out to pick up a copy then I don’t know what is.
