Labels: Riot Season
Review by: Chris Bress
Riot season is a fucking great label, that Mainliner LP was fucking brilliant as was the Tsurubami stuff and even the Sightings LP was quality (pity they were so boring live!) and now another great record from their offices to my bedroom.
I’ve been following Sunburned for the last few records and always enjoy their records, but I think so far this is probably my favourite. If you haven’t heard them before its along the same lines as bands like No Neck Blues Band, Pelt, Six Organs of Admittance but a lot funkier and with more of a jazz influence maybe. The only problem is that with this sort of drone / jazz / psyche music I think the band would need more time to develop their songs, I mean, these tracks are excellent it’s just I’d like there to be more or for tracks to be longer! It’s not really the sort of thing you put on for a short burst of energy like you would with a thrash 7″. Anyway moaning out the way this record smokes, you know you want it.
