Well, once again, Level Plane reaches into it’s +7 Wizards Hat of Hardcore Bands and this time they pull out a bunch of guys called Transistor Transistor. This is 8 songs that rip past on 45rpm, doing a good job of sounding fresh and exciting, which is an accusation you can pretty much make for anything that comes out on Level Plane.

Well, I felt all inspired to write that first paragraph and now I have writers block. Aii! That’s not meant as a comment on the quality of this record though, it’s more to do with my lazy state of mind. Lets see. T*2 is just three guys who kick up a racket. Lots of dynamic guitar work, building from subtler moments into sporadic bursts of guitar brutality. I find the momentum and groove of the whole thing to be very much in an envelope post-dated the 90’s and addressed to Shotmaker, although T*2 are only nibbling on that style rather than all out biting it. It’s basically that kind of thing but brought into 2002 with more modern stylings to it. Fuck knows what I mean by that. It just sounds like a good thing to write. The vocals are smart, ripping out all out screams over blistering melodies and thumping drumming that drives the music a long, or doing some sing-shout stuff instead that also works well. My favourite track is “High Maintenance” which just rocks my lame arse. This song fucking rules. It owns the groove and I do the booty shake like a demented chicken. One for mix tapes, that’s for sure.

Hey, this LP is good. Man am I verbose.
